Reportedly, and based on thousands of accounts throughout the world, astral travel is the ability to separate spirit from body and travel unaffected by usual physical laws. Astral travel is reported to be subject to the same laws as dreams, but for those who become consciously aware that they are having an out-of-body experience, near-infinite possibilities can be accessed. The astral realm overlays and permeates every part of our world, both conscious and unconscious. Because of this, it is said that every single dream is a projection into the astral world, within a dedicated zone called a "buffer zone", with the purpose of allowing people to explore their own desires and fears, strengths and weaknesses.
Astral travel, thus, also called astral projection, is a reflex we must retrain the conscious mind to be able to use. Astral projection training constitutes simple practices which help in remembering one's dreams and taking control of those, similar to the experiments conducted by Stanford on lucid dreaming. See our tutorials section for more.
The astral world is malleable and subject to the influence of thought, just as in what we normally consider to be "dreaming". During astral travel, it is possible to have various degrees of perception, even ranging up to a full 360 degrees of vision. Movement, interaction, and creation of objects happen directly by thought and will, completely free from normal physical limitations. A silver or golden cord attached to the astral body is seen by many travelers, extending from and linking them to their physical body.
Astral travel allows us the ability to experience and learn many things that would not be possible in the everyday physical world. Via astral projection, we are free to visit any location, any person, to explore fears and desires that are not immediately available to experience through normal means, to speak with teachers, spirit guides, and other advanced entities, and to access all information - past, present, or future - via the Astral Light or Akashic Records. All of these factors make astral projection an invaluable skill and an excellent resource for spiritual development.
