The Neteru (from Egyptian ntr) were the deities and nature spirits of ancient Egyptian (Kemetic) religion. The collective title may be translated as "Guardians" or "Watchers", which may connect them with the Watchers or Nephilim of Jewish lore.
The Neteru were creators, guardians, and regulators of all aspects of creation, and were often depicted in assembly within the Hall of Amenti. They may have been equivalent to the Sumerian Anunnaki. Included amongst the Neteru were all of the Egyptian gods we are most familiar with today, including Horus, Osiris, Isis, Anubis, Thoth, Set, Nephthys, and Nuit.
